Armed with coffee, an organization in Uganda is looking to secure the future of the endangered Mountain Gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in southwestern Uganda.
The Gorilla Conservation Coffee, is a social enterprise of Conservation Through Public Health, an award-winning NGO and nonprofit.
It was launched in late 2015 and targets improving the livelihoods of coffee farmers living close to Bwindi Impenetrable National park in southwestern Uganda.
Headed by Dr. Gladys Kalema – Zikusoka, Gorilla Conservation Coffee empowers farmers to grow high-quality coffee which it buys from them at a premium price, providing them with an alternative source of income, thus reducing the chance of villagers turning to poach to provide for their families.
